Sometimes the clues our ancestors leave behind only tell part of the story or obscure the truth altogether. We'll learn the most common ancestral "lies" and how to uncover the truth!

Our speaker, Jennifer Dunn, is a Georgia-based genealogist and family historian specializing in poor and hard-to-find Southern US ancestors. She holds a B.A. in US History with an emphasis on the American South, and she's especially interested in how social, economic, and labor trends influenced our ancestors' lives.

Jennifer uses strategies such as social history, little-known records, and cluster research in her work. Her presentations have been featured at the National Genealogical Society, Association of Professional Genealogists, WABE Atlanta Public Radio, Georgia Genealogical Society, Allen County Public Library, and local societies throughout the United States, where she works to get other family historians as excited about land, tax, and economic records as she is.

An active volunteer, Jennifer currently serves as Founding Vice President of the Southeast Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), named Chapter of the Year in its first year. She has filled various roles at the Georgia Genealogical Society (GGS) including Chair of the Nominating Committee and Webinar Moderator. She has worked with the Cherokee County, Georgia government and History Cherokee on local projects such as co-chairing the Oral History committee and identifying unknown burials. Jennifer has also contributed research to PBS's "Finding Your Roots." She has lectured on AI and land records at the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research (IGHR) and the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG). Find out more about her at her website CopperMineGenealogy.com.
